CLEANER AIR

plant’s HVAC system features a Reme-Halo IAG hydro-peroxide/zinc inonizing blue light installed inline with its filter. Allergens, bacteria, viruses, and pollutants filtered from the air all meet their demise before air is recirculated in the restaurant.

ONLINE RESERVATIONS with RESY

Reservations are always recommended, especially on the weekends, as our dining room is relatively small. We take reservations in person and with Resy online reservation platform. We cannot accept reservations or reservation changes through email or through the contact form on our website. In the case that guests do not arrive on time, we hold the table for 15 minutes after the reservation time before relinquishing the table to other guests.

We charge a $35/per-person fee for no-call/no-show abandoned reservations. We do not charge a cancellation fee in the event a guest cancels a reservation.

For same-evening dining without a reservation, we recommend visiting the restaurant at your convenience to check for walk-in space. We often cannot answer the phone during service hours between 5:00 and 9:00.

SERVICE CHARGE 

If you dine at plant, your bill will feature an automatic 5% service charge ($4.25 on the average bill). These funds are paid directly to non-waitstaff personnel as a way of compensating staff for support in task sharing. This is our way of legally earmarking funds that a service staff would historically garner from gratuity and ‘tip out’ to coworkers against North Carolina’s labor laws. The service charge is in place to unburden our service staff of this practice and to ensure equitable wages for the entire staff involved with your dining experience. 100% of our service charge is paid to employees. All gratuity our guests wish to add to the bill is earned and kept by the server.

GENERAL FOOD CRITERIA 

plant is vegan, 90% organic, often local, and mostly gluten free. No animal products are used in house.  We make almost everything from scratch.  We use three types of organic oil: extra virgin olive, sunflower, coconut, and toasted sesame.  We do not use peanut, soy, or corn oil.  We do not use isolated protein, be it soy or otherwise.

DIETARY REQUESTS

Many dishes can be prepared soy-free. We are happy to accommodate special dietary needs, but do request advanced notice in order to prepare our kitchen staff. Feel free to call or email the restaurant with additional questions.

FOOD ALLERGIES

We take food allergies very seriously; please inform your server of all food allergies prior to ordering. Although we take all necessary precautions to avoid cross contamination, please be advised that our kitchen frequently utilizes common allergens such as tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, and corn. If you have allergen concerns, please contact us via phone or email.

CHILDREN

We do not offer a separate children's menu, but we do offer a kid's bowl.  Most children eat happily from our dinner menu.  Our dining room is small and intimate, so we encourage our guests to be considerate of others' experiences when dining with children.

DRESS CODE…AND A NOTE

We do not have a dress code; please dress however you are comfortable…with one caveat: We will not tolerate fur from animals as attire. If we encounter it in the restaurant, we’ll ask (maybe politely) that it be removed from the building.

BOOZE

plant serves craft beer, sustainable and organic wines, and select craft cocktails. We require that any outside wine be vegan in order to be served, and we charge a $14 corkage fee.

OUTSIDE FOOD

We make two allowances for outside vegan food: 1. Where a child is being fed.  2. When a guest has such severe food sensitivities that he or she must bring in food in order to join friends or family at plant.  We firmly prohibit all animal products from remaining in the restaurant.  When we encounter animal products, we politely insist that they be removed without exception.
